Ralph’s 25,000 Miles Around the World

JUNE, 2021

25,000 MILES AROUND THE WORLD

We did it! We went Around the World for Ralph and raised money for the Christie Charity

The amazing PJ Livesey Team’s Round the World challenge ended with an incredible 24-hour-cyclathon at company headquarters to clock up the final 1,000 of the 25,000-mile journey

And it was wonderful that director Ralph Brocklehurst got the team over the finish line by cycling the last mile to bring us back home safely.

It followed an epic effort by director Craig Lynch and construction operations manager Gareth Whittaker who spent 24 hours in the saddle cycling around the clock. They were supported throughout the day and night by colleagues and we ended with a well-deserved party.

Thanks to the enormous efforts of everyone at PJ Livesey, supported by donations from friends, family, contractors, and suppliers we have raised more than £11,000 for The Christie Hospital Charity.

We would like to thank everyone for every single mile walked, run, cycled or swum and for every penny donated. The amount has already far exceeded our initial target but The Christie fundraising has been affected badly by the lack of events over the last year and we intend to leave the Fundraising page open until the end of June.

Georgina Livesey said: “It has been the most incredible journey around the world – both inspiring and humbling. I am so proud of the team and the effort everyone has put in both to do the miles and raise this incredible amount to support the work of such a great hospital. The treatment and care it provides for so many people like our colleague Ralph is world-class. It was typical of his indomitable spirit and strength that he wanted to get us over the finish line and play his part in completing the challenge which he inspired.” Anna McIntosh, major relationships development manager, at The Christie, was on hand to accept a cheque on behalf of the charity.

Restoring Storeton Hall’s Ancient Monument

RESTORING AN ANCIENT MONUMENT

A sensitive redevelopment that will see the Hall and its barn brought back to life

For years Storeton Hall on the Wirral had been on Historic England’s ‘At Risk’ register in danger of being lost forever.

Built originally for the Stanley family the medieval hall house is the second oldest building on the peninsular after Birkenhead Priory and stands just outside the village of Bebington.

It became part of a busy working livery yard and despite various plans being put forward for its re-use none were progressed and it continued to decay.

Two years ago, the site was acquired by heritage specialists the PJ Livesey Group and the stables were relocated to beautiful purpose-built facilities next door.

Over the last 12 months specialist teams have been carefully taking the Hall back to its original 14th-century shell and it is now being rebuilt using many of the same techniques of the original craftsmen.

Among those working on the building is Tony Gavin who began his training as a stonemason when he left school at 15 and has worked on many of PJ Livesey’s most ambitious restorations including Halifax Royal Hospital, Stonehouse Hospital Dartford, and Lancaster Moor Hospital.

THE OAKS, A DELUXE 5 BEDROOM PROPERTY

A gorgeous five bedroom detached house perfectly designed for family life.

We have named many of the properties at our Green Walk development at Standish in Gloucestershire after trees – inspired by the centuries-old arboretum that surrounds them.

The Oaks is as magnificent as it sounds – a gorgeous five-bedroom detached house perfectly designed for family life with spacious rooms and flexible accommodation.

The Oaks are part of the first phase of this lovely development and after launching properties off-plan to registered buyers the final Oaks house is now available, the last of the released properties so far at Green Walk, Standish.

Designed specifically for this area of the site and positioned overlooking an open area of green space this is an exceptional opportunity to be part of the unique Green Walk lifestyle.

The property boasts a huge open plan kitchen/dining/family room which spans the entire back of the house with two sets of bi-folding doors opening out onto the spacious private gardens.

There is a more formal living room – again with doors to the garden – at the front of the house. The double garage has direct access to the house and there is also a useful cloakroom, powder room and utility room to add practicality to this decadent property.

A large balcony off the galleried landing adds drama to the first floor and there are three self-contained bedroom suites while two more bedrooms are served by the spacious family bathroom.

The Oaks are priced at: £899,950.

Contact our friendly sales advisor Elaine for more information on the development at Green Walk Standish.

UPDATE: AROUND THE WORLD FOR RALPH

We are now more than half way on our Around the World for Ralph fund raising expedition.

The PJ Livesey Team is walking, running, rowing and cycling our way around the world – covering a whopping 25,000 miles – to raise money for The Christie Charity.

with fundraising now topping £3,500 we have doubled our original target to £5,000. All the money will go to The Christie where our colleague Ralph, and many others, are receiving wonderful treatment and care.

It has been great to see so many of the PJ Livesey team recording their steps every day whether walking around on-site, getting some fresh air at lunchtime or hitting the spin bike at home. Special mention to Keiran Graham Who ran 50 miles from Manchester to Liverpool.

Thanks also to the litter pickers, the dog walkers, the weekend hikers and the rowers. Every mile counts.

After travelling West, we have finally reached Russia and are now heading home.
